Subscription is just started. I believe, with time, you will see more 0.25 downloads and less $2 downloads. The botton line question - What you want more - subscription DLs or non-subscription DLs? |
As Achilles stated, the subscriptions have been around for a while. And actually even after the prices changed last year, the number of subscription DLs I had is very small. So I really don't think we need to hit the panic button.

sorry,I apoligize then. I just haven't seen any subscription downloadd yet. Timewill tell,but anyways -because 6 months lock - I will wait some time and won't upload untill things will become clearer. |

You had a single license under the subscription package, out of only 4 licenses of this kind this year. Subscriptions sum around 5% from your total number of licensed images. You draw false conclusions based on a single license of this kind.
You also sold two licenses, not one and the other one was credit-based. All contributors are kindly asked to check their facts before posting. The royalties are more than double so far at a database level so this was nothing but a huge success. |

I've had 1 or 2 subscription sales since the new price structure came in but the increased prices more than make up for it. On average I am making about double what I would have done under the old pricing. I think that when we look at our figures at the end of the month most people are going to be very happy. |

In all fairness, my revenue per image has in fact increased by about 20 cents per image downloaded so far this month.
I don't necessarily agree with allowing subscription credits for the purchase of RAW files or extended licenses, so I have opted out of both.
I'll sit back and see how things go for a while before making any more conclusions. |

My income has nearly doubled in the past 2 days with the new levels and sizes, and this is without that many people having purchased 2007 credits yet. I've had about 8 0.25 subscription sales yes, BUT I have had tons of $2-$4 sales ...
This means that DT is head to head with the other 2 big ones and actually yesterday DT was my top earner. Come on designers buy 2007 credits please :D |

Cathy. I am sorry to bring this on again, but if you want to talk specifics, you need to be more careful with the details. It's 100% irrelevant to discuss a long term strategy based on a few days experience, but if you still want to do it, at least check your facts right. That was not a subscription download, it was a download of a small size, credit-based. You can see this information on the image stats page (click the thumbnail).
The discussion got way offtopic and most contributors don't realize that the average royalties are MORE than double now. No offense, but this is what the average buyer pays, so it is greedy to want everything for you without any concern for the buyer.
Most of the contributors who posted "unpleasant" experiences here, got their facts wrong. We emailed them with specific details about this and none of them cared to adjust their post. This is misleading and worries other contributors as one can easily see.
We have taken into account all your posts and as mentioned, no matter what the results are so far (which are more than expected by the way: with new records for sales, downloads and EL licenses), we will still be monitoring the activity closely and will take the needed actions in order to protect everyone. |

My income is way up too! Hurray for more money! :-)
Now DT, PLEASE LIFT THE 6 MONTH LOCKIN and let everyone be hear by choice and let those who desire to leave go. I cannot see the advantage of keeping people here against their will, regardless of whether their earnings are improving or not. To me, the fact that royalties are up does not negate the fact that the terms of sale for contributors' images were changed after they submitted. Some people are comfortable with selling images for $0.25, others are not. It is clear that DT cares about respect and ethics; it seems reasonable to allow people to disagree with selling their images for $0.25, after all it is their work which is for sale.
If this is too far from the original topic, I'd be glad to open another thread. In broader terms, I just don't understand the case for a six month lockin anymore, when the site is so large, has so many contributors, and none of the other top tier microstock players have a lock in. I don't have an inclination to leave soon, but I also don't feel comfortable being locked in, especially if big changes can occur without an option to me to opt out. I think there would be a lot of good reasons for DT to lift the lockin, assure its contributors they are here by choice, and welcome new contributors who are waiting for more flexible terms to contribute. |

I have to agree with everything Brian (Bmcent1) has said there.
Couldn't have put it better. Please DT, read his post and I think a lot of people would agree with it. I am not planning on leaving any time in the foreseeable future, but I still think the 6 month lock-in is unfair when the terms of the agreement can be changed without the option to opt-out.

It might be a mistake, but in the details this is what I saw: subscription /$0.60 /maximum. Might be a mistake, but the sub. word is there, that's what threw me off. I apologize for not looking into it more, but all these prices are confusing... I am probably also reacting to the fact that feb. was my best month and then it slowed way down...I was getting used to it... but I have to take in consideration the up and downs of micro. I am glad to read about all the photographers with an increased # of Dl, and hope that it will soon reflect on my portfolio too. Wait and see... Peace and good luck to you all ! |

You may impose this condition on newly uploaded images,but should release oldones (uploaded BEFORE the change ) from 6 months lock, since you have changed upload terms since then, and noteveryopne, uploaded THEN is agree with changed terms. |
