I have been taking pictures for quite some time now. I used 35mm film, Medium format film, and Large format 4" x 5” film. I was honored with two solo art shows in South Florida and two in Europe. One called “Beyond the obvious” and one simply called “Wood”. Digital is a great medium and a lot lighter than my 4" x 5"
I just saw this post. The Canon 17-85 has a number of problems, but sharpness in not one of them. If you have to add sharpness in post "to fix it", you might be doing something wrong in the first place, especially with an 8Mpx camera. This lens is much better than the kit lens, regardless of what the reviews tell you. (60% of my port is done with that lens and I have a 15Mpx camera)The 18-135 is very soft all the way around and is most definitely not as good as the 17-85. The 70-300 is very sharp from 100-250mm. In general, forget the camera and invest in the best glass you can afford. Lenses stay, cameras come and go. posted in Canon 18-135 IS USM
